K-Beta - Diamond District - Kev Brown

K-Beta - DTLR (Down The Line Rhyme) feat. Diamond District ("Inglorious Beta" Studio Session) from Inner Loop Records on Vimeo.

"K-Beta and Diamond District collaboration produced by Kev Brown and with scratches by DMV’s #1 DJ, DJ Alizay. This banger can only be found on K-Beta’s debut album Inglorious Beta. Inglorious Beta drops on April 1."

I'm feeling this...

DILLmatic

Yep - you guessed it. It's a mixtape of Nas over Dilla beats... Personally I'm not convinced. Dilla beats have been rinsed to death and making Illmatic "better" is simply impossible.
However, I thought it deserving of a post nonetheless. Check it out.

Wardrobe Staples

The Black Beanie (with a turn up)

The Heather Grey Hoody
The Plain White T-Shirt

The Quality Denim (Preferably Selvage)

These are some garms no man should be without. It doesn't matter what brand or how much any of this stuff costs - it's like the bread and butter of clothing. If you're living without this stuff in your wardrobe... you're slipping. Any of this gear with a fresh pair of kicks and you'll be looking fly - simple as.

Chip The Ripper - Like That

I've heard some Chip The Rip tunes but none of them captured my attention quite like this one. Chip the Ripper's picked his name well... he ripped this one straight off NaS - but that's probably why I like it!

Skillit

Some great videos from a guy called Skillit. It's the first time I've come across this fella and I think he's dope. He's mixes a solid flow with some cracking humor in a way I believe only brit mandem can - plus the videos are refreshing in a time when grime rules and every song is about how to hurt people.
Big.

Reflection Eternal

Reflection Eternal - In This World (Official Video)

Reflection Eternal | MySpace Music Videos

"The wait is over. It has been a decade since renowned hip hop duo composed of rapper Talib Kweli and DJ Hi-Tek have released their first album, Train of Thought, in 2000. Ever since the group remained silent. However, today marks the day of their official reunion as the new video to their comeback single “In This World” hits the digital waves. Director Punit Dhesi enhances his creation by utilizing visual effects by Steven Tapia in order to emphasize RE’s input on the Hip Hop culture. Talib Kweli and DJ Hi-Tek have been constantly known for delivering thought provoking lyrics plus fine beats. It is good they are doing this together again. Their long-awaited sophomore album, “Revolutions Per Minute” is slated for a release April 20th."

Hmm, I'm not sure how I feel about this one. Personally, I think Talib has been lacking the energy and vibe of this earlier (Rawkus) releases but I thought it was worth a post anyway. At least their still making "real" Hip Hop... Even if it's slightly corny.

Try and start your week well

Nike Air Max 87... again

I must admit I'm a fan of 87's. These are fresh for the warmer months...

NY

Lately I've been getting some mad urge to back to NY... It's a city I really dig and despite having been a few times I still have the feeling I've only just scratched the surface.
This is a photo I took while I was out there back in '07.

Boombox

This one's on some next levels... it's a fricking portable disco!

Mr Snitch

Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal

This one goes out to Guru, as many of you know by now is in a coma since he had a heart attack last week.
This track is still one of my all time favorites - I can pretty much recite all the lyrics to this one. In my humble opinion, Gangstarr's - The Moment Of Truth is one of the dopest Hip Hop albums ever released and remains a benchmark in what constitutes real Hip Hop. Sick beats from the one and only DJ Premier, and of course deep and impeccably delivered rhymes from Guru.

Get well soon...

Sound System

"The Ceramic Speakers connect directly to iPods and other digital music players to form an elegant, minimal music system. Their sound becomes even more dynamic when paired with a turntable and a phono pre-amp. They also connect directly to computers, laptops and televisions, providing a vast improvement over built-in speakers.
The Ceramic Speakers are made from porcelain, cork, and Baltic birch. Each material is minimally finished, left to add its natural beauty to the design. The included amplifier is made from stainless steel sheet metal, with a cast iron base and paulownia volume slider. Aside from the electronic components, plastic is completely avoided in the system’s construction."

Simple, clean... even got a nice fader for the volume. I could do with this set up even if I'd probably knock one over and smash it when I stumble home pissed looking to bang out some tunes.

Exage.

Nike Air Jordan 1 Retro Hi KO “Knock-Out”

"The mythic Nike Air Jordan 1 KO “Knock-Out” was never officially released back when the original Nike Air Jordan 1 was first released. Rumor has it that there are less than 5000 pairs available worldwide. Featuring a modified silhouette of the regular Nike Air Jordan 1, the AJKO features a white and red canvas upper with a black leather swoosh. The Jordan Wings logo featuring “AJKO” is also featured on the lateral ankle strap. The mid and outsoles are yellowed giving them a vintage look. The sneaker is supposed to be released April 2010 and is now available for pre-order at Oqium Rotterdam." [Via Highsnobiety]

Yesss, These are fly. Not so sure about the grubby sole look though. I like my sneaks looking fresh-mode.
