Hip Show!
So by now everyone in the "civilized" world has hear of MMA or UFC or cage fighting or whatever you want to call it. Bet you thought it was pretty rough, didn't you?
Well Russia just upped the ante (yes, again) with Hip Show. The concept makes no sense as far as I can tell other than parkour climbing meets extreme violence. One on one? Oh no no no, that would be silly! This is a team game.
It does, however, unite two things Russians are exceedingly good at, climbing and fighting in gangs. If the show has an "open bar" round with the winner necking the most shots of vodka in under a minute - it could only make it better.
Russia, you mad for this one.

My Mancunian Vacation
It was essentially just an excuse to go on the rob and steal stuff, with the tactic of safety in numbers, as the cops can't be everywhere at once.
Apart from shop windows being broken (mostly just cracked from hammer blows rather than put through completely) and of course the Miss Selfridge that was set alight (presumably because there's nothing worth nicking in there) the "violence" was fairly targeted.
Unlike the rioting in London (shouts to my LDN mandem) where everything got pretty trashed in Manchester it was slightly more organized as scallies targeted shops that cater to their needs. That's to say places that sell sneakers and tracksuits and clothing like Foot Asylum, and Vans, Diesel Jeans, and Primark (?!) as well as the obvious jewelry shops and pawn brokers.
The ensuing media hype would have one believe that Manchester was left looking like Baghdad but when I went for a walk to assess the damage it was pretty much normal bar a few cracked windows. The city was far more trashed by Rangers fans a few years back.
All I can say is that it was a very sad state of affairs, and a depressing day for Manchester, one true Mancunians will remember as deplorable.
