Plan B - Prayin'

Plan B seems to have dropped his rapper with a guitar stance and ventured into the world of what I would call classic soul.
Frankly, I think it's been a very successful transition. Yes it's less street and more radio friendly but who cares. It's good, moving music that doesn't just rely on the usual degradation of females, cars and whatnot.

To add to that there seems to be some serious budget behind him now he's gotten more soulful with again isn't a bad thing as proved by this rather epic video to accompany his latest single.

Here's the track that got his initial buzz going a few years ago...

Fuck the screws...

Aloe Blacc - Billie Jean

I've been on Aloe since he was a rapper-slash-R&B cat.

Nice to see him blow with the [amazing] "I Need A Dollar" song... Now he gives us his version on Billie Jean, and in my opinion he can't do no wrong for the moment.

Soulful...

Cee Lo Green - Georgia

Cee Lo Green of the Dungeon Family - better known as one half of the "crazy" Gnarls Barkley has released the first track from his up and coming album The Lady Killer.
His usual retro vocal stylings on this one.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it...

Retrospective Mix - C-Stylez by C-Stylez

Okay, here's the deal: I'm starting a whole new trend.
Mixing with zero equipment - just a laptop - no snazzy DJ programs. [This is what I've resorted to in the absence of my decks... Man, I miss my ones and twos.] Using http://twoyoutubevideosandamotherfuckingcrossfader.com I've mixed tracks from youtube videos... There's no way to cue tracks or EQ them so it's pretty sketchy but I think I did alright for a first attempt.
It's an eclectic mix of new and old [mostly old], rare grooves and all time classics. Hope you enjoy!

Gil Scott-Heron... Back at it!
